What is Hypotrichosis Simplex?

Only sparse and fine hair are present on the scalp in the mid-twenties. The hair, other than the scalp hair, does not get affected and continue to grow normally.
  • Generalized Hypotrichosis Simplex: The generalized form of hypotrichosis affects the scalp, facial and body hair and hence, leads to scarce and thin eyebrows, beard, body and axillary hair. The hair loss begins at a very early stage of life (3 to 6 months of age) and complete baldness occurs during the 20’s.

There is currently no effective treatment for the physical aspect of hypotrichosis simplex.
